Ingrédients
  

For the Casserole
  • 1 loaf French bread stale, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Apple Topping
  • 2 apples peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over the bread cubes.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Spread evenly over the bread mixture.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate overnight. Bake in the morning.
