- Make the brown sugar syrup: Combine brown sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
- Assemble the drink: Pour the hot brewed coffee into a mug. Stir in the brown sugar syrup until combined. Add milk or cream if desired.
Notes
You can store leftover brown sugar syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
