Cheesy Pasta Bake

A simple and satisfying cheesy pasta bake recipe.

Ingrédients
  

For the Pasta
  • 300 g Pasta penne or similar shape
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 200 g Cheddar cheese grated
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
Optional Topping
  • 50 g Breadcrumbs

  • Large pot
  • Baking dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in the cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
  6. Pour the pasta mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs if using.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

Serve hot. You can add cooked vegetables or protein to the bake for a more complete meal.
