Ingrédients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Cheese Layer
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
Other Ingredients
  • 12 lasagna noodles uncooked

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and parmesan cheese.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles, half the ricotta mixture, and a third of the mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce and mozzarella.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
  7. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.

You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or a mix of beef and pork.
