Ingrédients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Cheese Layer
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
For Assembly
  • 12 lasagna noodles uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for topping

  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowls

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the pot. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles, half the cheese mixture, and a third of the meat sauce. Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce on top.
  6. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
  8. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or a mix of beef and pork.
