  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 ounce, undrained
  • 1 can kidney beans 15 ounce, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and onion. Cook, breaking up the beef, until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve hot.
