- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and onion. Cook, breaking up the beef, until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Serve hot.
