Ingrédients

For the Brownies
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Cream Cheese Swirl
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Equipment

  • 8x8 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. In another small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg yolk, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice until well combined.
  7. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the batter.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.

Notes

For a richer chocolate flavor, you can add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the brownie batter.
