Simple Pasta Recipe

Ingrédients
  

For the Pasta
  • 400 g Spaghetti
  • 1 tbsp Salt for pasta water
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes 400g
  • 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese grated, optional

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Colander
  • Skillet

Method
 

  1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package directions. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes and dried oregano to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

You can add cooked vegetables or protein to the sauce for a more complete meal.
