Ingrédients

For the Meatballs
  • 500 g ground pork
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, panko breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  6. Heat the sauce over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the baked meatballs to the saucepan with the sauce. Toss gently to coat them evenly.
  8. Serve the meatballs immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

You can adjust the sweetness and spiciness of the sauce to your preference. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
